CPS Online Gradebook plans

The CPS CPS online grade book is coming soon. I have spoken to teachers and students at CPS schools where the online grade book will be used soon.  Most teachers are glad to finally get a useful tool, but fear that training may be slow in coming and that the grade book may not work (like IMPACT!)  Students say they will not tell parents/guardians that the online grade book is available to view students’ attendance and grades.

Joshua Pollock, on May 22, 2008, put some interesting thoughts together on this topic.

Online grade book will allow parents to track CPS students’ grades, attendance; privacy concerns raise questions

Notice, the press article says

“No school district as large as CPS has ever implemented an enterprise-wide electronic gradebook solution.”

Doesn’t that sound like what CPS said after IMPACT crashed on the first day of school?

The application seems to be running. Some places. For some people.

I logged on to it at Leadership HS, but a teacher could not.

Time will tell.
